Funding partner in 2008 is the Claude Moore Charitable Trust.
penny/change collection day with a low profile collection of change in
their pockets.
In 2008, to assist and encourage students, the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation is providing a 3 to 1 funding match for student efforts in building their endowment base for sustainability of a permanent grant-making program. The Claude Moore Charitable Foundation will triple match up to $5,000 in student gifts, ($15,000 can be attained in match money) for those schools participating in the student philanthropy program of the PCF.
You can
Remember to identify your donation for the Student grant-makers program and
your gift can be in honor of any of our participating schools---just tell
us!!
Using the philosophy that people are most empowered by a project you have helped build rather than one built for you by others, the vision was to create a mechanism for any student, regardless of means, to have the opportunity to assist in creating a bone fide student philanthropic legacy as part of the S. Murray Rust and Mary H. C. Rust Student Philanthropy Project. That mechanism, called “Change Day”, will accomplish the latter via an annual in-class change collection.
How it works: Current status of the student permanent endowment seeded by the Rust family is over $69,000; with another expense fund available for grant money in the early years and for expenses to assist the operation of the student philanthropy program. The Change Day money is restricted for the student endowment and will not be used for any other purpose. The goal is have the student endowment attain a threshold of $100,000 to guarantee annual availability of a minimum of $5,000 for the student grant-makers every year.
